The Iowa Driver Improvement Program (DIP) is designed to examine one’s attitude(s) and behavior in relation to driving, rather than revisiting the “how-to’s” of driving skills. The Iowa Driver Improvement Program is unique in that it focuses on teaching drivers how their behind-the-wheel attitudes affect their driving behavior. Most traffic accidents are a result of a combination of uncontrolled emotions, improper decisions and bad habits. The program will address basic “behind the wheel” attitudes. Its purpose is to give participants an opportunity to look at their driving behavior and make a personal commitment to positively alter their daily driving experience. This facilitator guide leads the instructor through each component of the curriculum and features detailed activity instructions in the appendix.
